Kings Langley Good Neighbours

Are you having difficulty getting to appointments at hospital or the dentist or the local surgery? If  you live in Kings Langley we might be able to help.

Watch our documentary film "Village with a Soul" and see the Good Neighbours Scheme in action.

How much notice do I have to give?

We usually need several days notice to find a driver, but as our drivers are all volunteers they can usually wait while you are being seen.

What does it cost?

Our services are free (apart from the Lunch Cub) but we welcome donations to help with our running costs and with our transport costs. How much you give is up to you. Typically, for return drives, we receive the following:

In the Kings Langley area

Latest News

The month of August has seen a number of Kings Langley Good Neighbours volunteers taking well deserved holidays. However we have been lucky in recruiting three new volunteers - all of whom whom found out about us at the Carnival We are always hoping to recruit more volunteers - especially drivers. It can be very rewarding and does not need to take up a lot of time. The more drivers we have the more we can spread the load!.

Carnival

DIY and help with shopping

Some of our volunteers can help with small DIY tasks, including gardening, and will visit people at home, either to provide company, or to relieve a carer, or both. We can also help with shopping trips if these are proving difficult.
Please give us a call if you think we might be able to help, and one of our volunteers will call you to discuss your needs.

Lunch Club

Every Tuesday we run a Lunch Club for any villagers who want an excellent meal in friendly surroundings. There is a small charge for the lunch (£5) but transport to and from the club is free.

Volunteers are always needed

If you are interested in volunteering give us a call on 07790 668672 or complete the contact form. Volunteers are called in rotation when a job comes in. They then decide whether or not they can help on this occasion - it's entirely up to them. If they can help, they then make contact with the client and complete the job. If not, they will be called again next time. Most volunteers are drivers but other services like DIY and gardening are also needed. We also need volunteers for our Lunch Club.

Volunteers are offered out of pocket expenses, including a milage allowance.
